We would like to spend some time in Door county in Sept. and would like some help with the campgrounds in the area. Any comments would be appreciated. We need a CG that will allow a 45' coach.
We were there last summer with the coach for two days but didn't have a toad. Driving around and seeing the place was difficult without the car.
Thanks,
Phil

Hi,
Can't recall the name of the CG, but it is located in Carlsville, north of Sturgeon bay. It is right on Hwy 42. Very nice, large sites, all the amenities. Our FMCA local chapter, Badgers, have stayed there, & we've been there alone as well.
Peninsula state park is very nice as well, but almost impossible to get an electric site. We are 38' & can fit many sites easily.
Four years ago we stayed at Wagon Trail Campground in Ellison Bay. Was a great place to stay. Great rustic place with full hook ups. Close to the state park in Door county.
there is a great place near by called Beas Homade Jams and Jellies in Egg harbor. All kinds of jams, honey, 4 berry jam and baked goods. The 4 berry jam is delicious!!
Good luck!

I can't remember the name either, but there is a very nice county campground between Green Bay and Door County that we stayed in last summer. There would be no problem getting your 45' motorhome into the sites, and it has 30 amp electric and water at many of the sites. The sites are huge, wooded, and nice and quiet. We definitely enjoyed our stay there.

Peninsula State Park is beautiful, but hard to reserve on line. However, there are always some openings that the parks don't put on line due to last minute cancellations. If you have other options as a fall back and are willing to chance it, try the park office between 11 and noon to see what might be available. Good luck!
Sorry I don't have any campgrounds for you, but I know I have seen large busses/MH up there...
If you like natural places two places to go are Cave Point county park (on Lake michigan) and it has cool caves and rock formations and White Fish Dunes state park, nice beach on Lake michigan. They are on the east side of the pennisula and are very near eachother.

We stayed at Kewaunee Village RV Park in Kewaunee 2 yr ago this fall. We found it in the passport america book... it's still there, good for 2 nights, reservations required. It was a nice enough park and the owner had an interesting story about how he ended up with it. Seems he provided the financing for her daughter and now ex husband. It's probably changed hands by now.

Whitefish Dunes SP has no campground; it's a day-use park only. Nice spot for a picnic, though! Of the 4 SPs in Door County, Peninsula is the only one with sites and interior roads I'd consider for your rig - and it's among the most popular SPs in Wisconsin, so elec sites are reserved months ahead of time. Fall is a pretty popular time to be up there too.
We haven't been there but have heard good things about Wagon Trail CG. The CG that used to be called Quietwoods North is nice too, and heavily wooded (sorry, can't remember the name of it now). I believe they can handle some larger rigs.
You're right, getting around in the MH would be tough. Do you plan to take a toad this time?
