Hello everyone. I hope that every one is doing well.
I have a Fleetwood Elkhorn 9T camper. It wasn't fitted with a Microwave, instead the compartment is used as a cupboard.
We would like to install a microwave but want it to look like a factory installation. I have looked at the appliance stores but none seem to fit the compartment properly. The ones that would fit the opening would look out of place. Also, all of the standard home style units have AC clocks, don't know if the RV types do as well, but would prefer none to reduce draw on inverter when in use.
I looked at a couple of RV brands, about had a heart attach when I looked at the whirlpool unit, $325. Are they kidding!
Won't use it that much, so don't want to spend a lot for it.
Does any one have any suggestions. The opening is 21.5" wide, 13.375" tall, 13.5" deep.
Thanks in advance.

A small Timeronly or a Sharp R-200AW 800 Watts Microwave Oven,
can be placed in the cabinet, secured with straps or clips, and the surrounding area filled with either real or fake wood strips matching the cabinets. Or you could put an on/off switch on the 120V outlet to turn off the digital display on any other microwave!

My first camper didn't have one either. I bought one to fit inside and closed the cupboard door when not in use. That was the easiest solution! Good luck.

I just ordered a GE JESO736SM from WM $51 delivered to the store. It was small enough to fit in the cabinet. Once I got it I decided to remove the useless power vent and install a shelf for the little micro. That way I still have the cabinet space. I went up to Mi UP took all the stuff and did the mod on a rainy day when I could'nt ride the Harley.

Hi PJ,
In my Lance, I have a Walmart 700w unit that I have in a cabinet. The 700w unit will work off a 700 watt inverter. I spent $37 for it some years ago. An advantage to the cheap units is that they have no clock; just a "hand turned" timer. The "trim" to surround the M-wave could be whatever you use that you like.

I just purchased a Northstar Freedom. Also wanted a microwave - but 1) I want to keep as much cabinet space as possible and 2) I have a boat and a small portable microwave can service both. I have a Honda EU2000 generator. Now is the prime time for buying a small 700W microwave - back to school/college sales. WalMart has a GE 700W for $42. I figure I can secure it while traveling, put it on the counter when needed, and put it on the boat when necessary.
Just my 2 cents.

Mine is a 700 or 800 watt unit. I paid $40 at Best Buy, then received a $20 rebate. I mounted it under the cabinet. My wife is vertically impaired, and likes the height, of the microwave. I have had it for about 4-years.

We bought a Samsung microwave of the same dimensions as the factory installed and had the dealer order the install kit. As a result, we have what looks like a factory install of one third of the price. Less than $100 instead of $350.

Had the same issue and bought one at Sam's Club.
Did have to build an extension frame but it fits like it was designed originally.
