Over the last 35 yrs. we have been there about 25 times for R & R. Be sure to bring two credit cards. The second for when the first one starts smoking!

What do you like to do? Stuff in town, or stuff in the National Park? Would like to make some suggestions, but need some idea of what you like, or are looking for. We go every year for spring break, it is an awesome place! One year I suggested we try somewhere different and I thought my kids were going to do me in! Needless to say, we did not change our routine.( I was glad, I love it there )

Come by the house and mow my lawn. We're right at exit 407 behind the Tennessee Smokies Baseball Park...........

Yeah, right. Anyway, for sure Dollywood and Dixie Stampede and Cades Cove. Smokie Mountain Knife Works just off I-40 on SR 66 is great if you're into that.

Tons of dinner shows all over Pigeon Forge.
Good luck.......

(the offer is good if you're really inot mowing too.....)

i agree w/ all that has been said!! my 2 kids are the same age as yours. we really enjoyed going in the national park to the "chimney tops". it is a picnic area where you can bbq or have a picnic & the area next to the picnic area is a giant stream running down these huge rocks that the kids love to climb on. the water is so peaceful & calming to listen to!! we really enjoyed it! we saw a mother bear w/ 2 cubs in cades cove (we had to go through it 2x--but it was worth it!! my kids also loved the "mirror maze" which is on the main strip in gatlinburg. ENJOY!!

Visit the Bass Pro Shop. Go on past Sevierville on Hwy. 66 over to Kodak (I-40).

If you go to Cade's Cove via the road that goes past the Sugarlands Visitors' Center, look for the road to the right that goes to Townsend. There is a large grassy bank over the Little River at the intersection. People picnic and sunbathe on that bank. If you don't want to pack a lunch, you can buy broaster chicken and potato wedges a couple of miles down the Townsend road at a store at the KOA.

There is parking on the road to Townsend. There are also portapotties located in the parking area. People walk down the bank between the parking area and the river. You can bring chairs and sit near the edge of the river, or sit on huge rocks in the river. There are shade trees so the area is usually cooler than on the grassy bank. People play and tube in the Little River.

Have fun!

We are going in October, staying at River Plantation. We can't hardly wait! We are looking forward to everything! We have been keeping track of all the Gatlinburg suggestions. I'm gonna weigh a hundred pounds when I leave Smokey Mountain Knife Works and the Apple Barn, both for different reasons!

Counting the days till October...

Does the trolley come by River Plantation, anybody know?
