I know several people who have recently purchased RV's, cars and motorcycles in the US. My son also purchased a 1987 Honda Civic CRX from Knoxville, TN, last year and none of them have had any problems. Actually they have all commented on how easy the transactions at the border went, since of course, they all had done their homework and had all of their paperwork in order ahead of time.

With mechanical failure being a very infrequent contributing factor; it is astonishing that three of these collisions involved mechanical failure.
Say what? Name a town that has 25,550 vehicles and has had only 80 collisions with one fatality and one severe injury, with only three involving a mechanical failure over a period of 4 years. What are these people talking about?

I agree, we imported a 07 Suburban in Nov, and just this week a travel trailer from Montana at huge savings. If you do all your homework it is a simple process, a little legwork involved, but well worth it. I don't know too many people who bring back vehicles that are older than 15 years anyway.

Basically, the reason for the restrictions can be seen in south Texas every day, especially from Corpus Christi to Brownville on US 77. A lot of vehicles(old and packed with stuff to the gills) pulling another old vehicle, also packed to the gills, heading to Mexico to be sold down there. There are some folks around that make a rather good living buying what we would consider junk, and selling the stuff in Mexico. Some of the towing combinations I have seen have given me nightmares.
