I just downloaded Explorer 7 and now the spell check no longer works.
I have heard so many good things about Foxfire that I think I should change. I am not very computer literate and do not want to get in over my head. Will the bookmarks and email address book move over or will I have to rebuild everything?

When you install FF it will pick up all the bookmarks and favorites that you have set up with the IE browser. If you are now using Outlook or Outlook Express, the changeover will have no affect on your address book. Likewise, if you're using webmail (aol, or similar) your address book is kept on their server and will not be affected by the changeover.

Firefox is the best. It does what you need to do and better.

Agree that Firefox is the best. Much less hassle and easy transfer from Explorer as above. Less problems with java as well.

Microsoft Explorer 7 really is a pain. If you dont go to Firefox and you want to get rid of Explorer 7 and re-install Explorer 6 then you can go the following Microsoft site and follow the instructions.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927177

I did this and it uninstalled Explorer 7 and re-installed Explorer 6 which is actually just a part of Windows. Everything operated as normal with all your information, bookmarks, etc. intact.

You can also go to Google and just type in Delete Explorer 7 and the above Microsoft site comes up.

Thanks for your help with FF I downloaded it and it looks good. My emails and the address book did not make it over. It did pickup some old web emails from 2007.
Can one of you tell me how to move it over? My GW also has a mailbox at outlook that she would get to from the file menu. That link is also not there. As I told you upfront I would get in over my head.

I think we're all a little confused as to what you are doing. Internet Explorer and Firefox are WEB BROWSERS that only browse the web. Outlook Express, Outlook, and Thunderbird and EMAIL programs that just do email.

So they question is, are you trying to use Thunderbird for Email as a replacement for outlook or OE? If so why? Firefox as a web browser will work just fine with Outlook or OE for email - and the IE7 update should not have changed very much about your email.

The real problem was that outlook was not working after the download and I became so frustrated with MS that I started to look at FF and FB and thought I would try them. I know that a 7 year old could have done this but I am 60 years older then that. Right now I have to read my email on Hot mail and will have to rebuild all my info on the web.

I have used FireFox for several years, and like it much better than Explorer. I just downloaded the update, and have found a problem, I can't seem to fix. I can't get Adobe reader or flash player to work in the new version of FireFox. I used the instructions for the installer from Adobe, and I get an error message, and then it won't install. I would recommend FireFox to others, but this problem has started to bug me. I have my insurance set up online, and was unable to read my new policy, because I could not get the Adobe reader to work. Had to use Explore, which I don't like.
