Welcome to all the new members. You will be happy you joined us here.
I suggest that you click on the Frequently Asked Questions tab at the top, left side of the page. There are literally hundreds and hundereds of pages of ideas, solutions and tips that can be found for almost any question you may have from traveling with propane on to eliminating black streaks.
After being a member here for a long time, I still visit this section often for informative reading.
I agree, Java. One of my pet peeves is seeing the same questions posted week after week on the forums - it's like the posters never even looked at the FAQ section or never did even a simple search. And how many times can we post about mice in PUPs and the best campgrounds in Gettysburg, anyway?

If nobody asked the questions, then we would not have much of a forum. I too have answered the same questions hundreds of times but each poster has a right to ask and get a response to their question. To them, it is important and deserves an answer.
Also, too often, new members do not realize that we have the FAQ and/or the search feature. Often, if they do a search, they really don't know what to search for - so they ask a question that has been covered many times before. Again, they deserve a respectful and complete answer - even if it has been covered before. Just think how boring these forums would be if all we did was talk about the weather - I would rather talk about the best campgrounds in Gettysburg!

And, of course, the FAQ is ONLY as good as those members who notify me of links to include.
From the FAQ:
Quote:
This thread (the FAQ) is a kind of an "Index" to topics that have been raised many times on the forum. It is not a "Topic Search Engine." That is already provided by the forum (the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner).
It is by no means all inclusive of all the discussions done on this forum. To maintain a true index is a daunting, if not impossible, task.
It is also definitely not meant to stifle discussion nor to quash any new topics from being created. It is here to provide quick links to some discussions that have taken place in the past. Any new information is always welcome to any of the threads or even new ones. If you are aware of a topic and thread (or created a new topic and thread) and want it added here, please post a reply to this thread with the FAQ (even if its a new one) and the link to the thread so I can copy it here. This is also true of threads I may have missed (especially in the early stages!).

One thing that I appreciate with new members is that they take time to create a signature. Many questions that are asked cannot be answered if we don't know what kind of rig they have. Create a signature listing RV, tow vehicle, toad, and/or whatever else the poster deems useful. It can also create an image of who they are and what type of interests they have.

We should also not forget that since the last time someone posted that same question another member may have joined who has specific experience in that subject or a current member may have discovered new, valuable info on the subject. That new data may not (yet or ever) be in the FAQ.

I agree that the forums are all about asking question, Barney, and the search funtion doesn't always (or even usually) provide what one is seeking. However, we don't need to ask the same questions over and over again, that's just common sense (or lack thereof). There is nothing new to say about any of those Gettysburg (or Niagara Falls, or Top Sail, etc.) campgrounds that has not already been said hundreds of times here.
Thank goodness not everyone feels about questions as some of the posters here do! Wouldn't be much of a "forum" without questions, would it?
I guess those who don't want to read the same subjects over and over could just chose to NOT read those subjects - just skip over them? Or am I missing something?
Speaking for only myself, as a relative "newbee", I have learned, and continue to learn, a LOT from those redundant questions. New and varied answers are given all them time. And I woulde like to say "thank you" to all the experienced RVrs who bother taking the time for us.

Could not agree more! If you dont like whats on, turn off the TV! or change the channel. Personally I seem to get more and updated information on OLD questions with new products and newer ideas. You have weight police, and now question police! Maybe a camping trip or off button is needed.

I wasn't trying to squelch the value of continued questions and I have always tried to answer with my experience even if the question has been posted for the umteenth time. In fact, I am sur most of us here have asked questions that have been discussed many times befor, including myself.
In fact, I always like to respond to the "traveling with your propane on" questions no matter how many times. It gives me the chance to let the poster know that those that don't travel with their propane on for fear of a fire, are wrong!!
My point was that there is a wealth of information also available in the FAQ section. That's what it's there for.
