We just got back from a great trip thru the San Juans in Colorado and then Mesa Verde and Canyon de Chelly. While parked in one campground we enjoyed a doozy of a thunderstorm, complete with hail and lightning and boomers loud enough to spook the dog and DW.
As the storm started, I assumed (aha! the curse of the RV'r) that I should switch off the 30 amp shore power at the post. So I did. Later I found that I was probably the only guy who did this. One other camper said he flicked off the breakers on his converter but the general consensus at the bath house was to just ride out the storm.
Now I'm curious...what behaviors do you folks do when the tall anvil clouds appear and the storm comes rolling in?

We don't unplug, but perhaps we should?

If you're worried about turning the power off, you should probably go the next step and unplug, as you're still grounding yourself and a little thing like a breaker is probably not going to prevent a direct hit from taking the path of least resistance to your RV. I would probably be more worried about a raised antenna or nearby tree. The few strikes I have seen have done things I would not have expected, so I think it really boils down to "odds."

When expecting a severe thunderstorm, the only thing that we unplug is the TV cable. We've already lost one TV to lightning coming up the cable and won't lose another.

I keep my TT plugged in 24x7 when at home. I guess if It's my time or TT's time to get hit it will.

At times I unplug, could still get a surge if plugged in.
