I need to drill a hole in our Corian desk top. It needs to be about a 1" - 2" hole, to pass wires etc.
Does anyone know the proper procedure for drilling Corian? Any special bit needed, or just regular hole bit?
See my last post for update.

A typical wood drill bit should work. Corian is really plastic and can be handled as such. Just keep the speed down.
I cut a hole in my corian countertop to add a water filter. Easier than I thought.

Use a sharp carbide tipped hole saw.Let the bit do the work don't force it.

I just drilled a 1/2" hole in a piece old 1/2 Avanite which is the same as Corian, with a standard HS drill bit, I had no splintering or blow out, I used steady presure and medium speed.
Your counter top for your desk might not be solid Corian it might be a layier over fiber glass, or laminated to plywood, you can use a standard hole saw to drill your hole then get a trim cover from a good cabinet hardware store.

The correct way is tape the area to be drilled and use a carbide hole saw as stated.Drill slowly. If you can clamp a piece of wood on top and bottom to help keep from flexing and possibly cracking.

be sure to buy your trim cover first so the hole is the right size.

I installed a soap dispenser on the kitchen counter. Taped the spot, bought the hole-saw at Home Depot and used their lubricant. Slow and easy.

They are available at Staples or other office supply stores and come in several sizes both in metal and plastic. Colors are available. True Value Hardware here stocks them as well. They allow a cord with a plug to pass through then have a cover to reduce the hole size.
