hi
I have got a heavy TC to put on my Dodge 3500 4X4.
The truck rides level but it does roll quite a bit, I have just got a set of light truck tyres so I can run at higher pressures, but I feel that it could do with more help to control the rolling. I don't want to raise the c of g ,it's already high. I am thinking of air bags, heavy gas shocks or coil overs, which of these would be best for me ? or have you any better ideas? I did wonder if there is a heavier antiroll bar available for these trucks ,but shipping long boxes over the pond is very dear!! What are your thoughts??
Nigel

Nigel,
You do not explain which year truck, which engine and how many
rear wheels.

If you have a newer Dodge diesel SRW, it has the AAM1150 rear end.
In that case, it does not have an anti-roll bar. You can get
such a bar through a few sources. But Frederico in San Diego has
very stiff bars made up for racing or heavy loads.

For shocks, look east and get the Blistien units.

Ditto stickyeye...Stable Loads from TorkLift...work really well on my 2004 CTD not 4x4...easy to install! Should be relatively cheap to ship to you. Capt PJ

Air bags will not help roll. I have Edlebrock Mono double acting shocks and they do the job. JMTCW

I disagree. I had a extremly tippy setup before installing air bags. The trick is to put about 80 pounds in them (this should lift them way off the overload springs), them slowly reduce pressure to lower them down until the overload perches just barely touch the springs. Leave them at there regardless of what the pressure is. For even more help you can get bumpers that will bolt onto your perches for additional bag pressure and ride hidth if needed.

LEXcuse, What if your overloads never touched the bumpers when the TC was loaded! Then the pads 9Stable loads) make up the difference and that stopped all my tippy feeling, so no need for bags! A whole lot cheaper and nothing to fuss with or blow out. RIGHT?WRONG? Capt PJ

Well, I've used the same pair of AirLifts on two different trucks over the past 15 years without any problem whatsoever. Frankly, I've never heard of an airbag having a 'blow out' and there's really no 'fuss' either. I load the camper and all the gear, push a button until the truck is level and I'm done.

I think there are a lot of misconceptions about air bags.

I agree. There are also many air bags that are not properly installed.
