Okay,

Now I know my dates to travel.
It will be the second week in september.

Phiadelphia PA to Bar Harbor Maine.

Not sure how to break it up going north as it is 12 hours on the road. But I am still open to ideas.

So far I have been told to stay at NARROWS TOO in Bar Harbor unless you have more thoughts on that.

On the way back home I will be going to the Wells area to see Ogunquit. Then need an idea a bit south of that to stop for a night (thinking Newport RI) unless you have better idea.

open to all ideas.

Have you thought about a layover in Sturbridge, MA and then take a tour of Old Sturbridge Village? It's off of Rt 84 near the MA/CT line.

Search for recent posts on Narrows Too. Reviewer was not happy. We have spent many- read "very many" nights on Mount Desert. I would not stay there. 2nd week of Sept you will be able to have your pick of campgrounds.
We have stayed at Hadley's Point Campground off season- May (Memorial Day weekend) and in Sept and Oct. Off season this is a wonderful campground to stay

It is also on the route of the Explorer Bus that can take you to Bar Harbor (free). The bus system connects with other buses to take you to other attrctions around the island.

Good luck with your plans.

Newport RI is very nice, but I can not recommend any campgrounds near there, mostly beach/state parks in RI. Go further north & stop at Normandy Farms In Foxboro, Ma. it is right off 495 & Rt 1. It is a very nice resort style campground, you will not be disappointed. Here is there site address http://www.normandyfarms.com/
Have a great trip/time in Maine, we go there every Labor day weekend.

We vacationed in Maine in early June and stayed at the Narrows Too campground in Bar Harbor. Not at all crowded when we were there and very nice and clean. On the return trip, we stayed in Wells at the Ocean View campground, also very nice and clean and lots of shade. Great host at both places.

You only "need" 50 amp service if you want to run a total of over about 28 amps worth of 120 VAC.

The fact that your coach has 50 amp service does not necessarily mean you have to have 50 amp hookups.

If you mind your power consumption (i.e. don't run two A/C's at the same time) all you need is a 30 amp male to 50 amp female adapter available at all RV stores.

I ditto the Normandy Farms...we were just there for a week and it is only a 40 or so mile drive with the toad to Newport...and the mansions...as far as your initial drive up.....(this is the difficult part of whether you go 84 or 95)...I would stay at ACES HIGH RV PARK...(they have a web site) as it is a nice well run place--HUGE sites--50 amps and extremely close to the casinos and Mystic Ct is a 10 mile drive with the toad (very quaint pretty town and shops)--it is right off of exit 74 of 95..you could go up 84 to 91 and take that south to 95 and then over....that usually puts you well past the traffic part of 95...either way you will be just past season -- the perfect time to go. We are going to go up to Maine next spring...
