Does anyone have a front kitchen floorplan? What comments can you give us on the livability. Is it a good plan for a full-timer? Any drawbacks that you have found would be appreciated.

We have a model 27FKS travel trailer with a Front Kitchen and find it just fine for the two of us. The bedroom is in the back with the bathroom between it and the living area.
For help deciding go to www.rvknowhow.com and read the Kieva's suggestions for how to decide on an RV.
I don't know why you are asking about the front kitchen. Kitchen's in the back are where the dishes break from the bouncing.

We looked at "kitchen front" a Gulf Stream when we 1st looked to buy a class A. Really thought they were neat (different) until we sat in the coach for an hour. We realized "out the front" views when sitting in the living room disappear. Anyway ... long story short we "X'ed" the front kitchen for a 4 slide 40' with large side and front windows because we like view when we are inside the coach. We even choose an additional bdrm window in place of a headboard. We found writing down likes/dislikes help a lot + take pix and when you get home show them on the computer. Good luck looking!!!

Another one that does not like sitting in the back, I like to be able to see out of the front.

We had our custom built with a front kitchen. We really like the tremendous amount of storage space that we get from that orientation.

We have a front Kitchen Floor Plan. I like it alot. Taking food outside to eat is a plus also. Makes
the Living area seem more like home with the flat screen TV in the rear.
and the sofa and easy chairs are all aft of the kitchen. It is tiled all the way to the front door from the Kitchen. carpet in the living area aft of the Kitchen. Refer is behind the passenger seat.
I too like to look outside a lot but with big and lots of side
windows I can't find a thing wrong with the layout. I never pull
the shades or Blinds. If there is a
problem with a front Kitchen I sure can't guess what it would be.
we wanted a big open area in living area and no front TV
above the drivers area. Just my 2 cents worth

My wife and I strongly considered a 38' front kitchen Fleetwood Triumph 5th wheel 3 years ago. Loved the large, roomy raised front kitchen with breakfast bar and railing separating a sunken living room. The shower / bath / toilet had separate doors to the living room and bedroom. The king bed rear bedroom had it's own exit door. After considering it for a while we concluded that the center living room was kind of small and that there was not enough storage space due to the sunken living area.

I think, more importantly, for a fulltimer, rather than location of the kitchen, are storage space, the workability of the kitchen, and above all the size of the refrigerator. We have a side kitchen that we love except for one thing, a small reefer. Not usually a problem on weekend trips or even being out a couple of weeks, but you stay out any longer and you are going to be throwing out left overs that get lost because you've crammed the fridge so full that you can't see everything. We added a small fridge in the empty space where our washer dryer was supposed to be, if we had gotten it. It helps, quite a bit for drinks, but it really isn't any good to put food in, because you forget it's in there. We've often talked about getting Monaco's bath and a half floorplan and converting the front half bath into a pantry. We have excellent storage space in our present coach, but you can always use more. Having enough space sure beats running outside to pull something out of the basement storage, especially when it's 25 degrees and snowing.

One thing that a front kitchen usually brings with it is that the TV is mounted at a height that doesn't ruin your neck and it's much easier to view. Not a small point when you are stuck inside because of weather conditions. After looking at a TV mounted in front of the coach, for a couple of hours, your neck will hurt unless you are either very young or very limber. We've added a TV at sitting eye level and it really is one of the best mods we have made.

In the end it boils down to what you want and whether it will fill your needs. Remember that there are two types of MH's out there, ones that are built for weekend trips and vacations and ones that are built to live in. The weekender is all nice and glitzy with features that will dazzle your eyeballs with all the neat stuff. Units built to live in may not be as much eye candy but they have good serviceable interior layouts, that give you what you need in your house in order to live in it 24/7/365.

Just my $.02 worth

We have a 40' Allegro Bus with the front kitchen. I was against the design from the outset. I don't know why I was against it, maybe I just had the idea that it was unconventional and not "right". My DW, on the other hand, loved the layout so her 10 votes beat my 1 vote.

Now that we have some time in this floorplan I must say that I like it. I think the thing I like the most is having the TV in the mid-coach position (and lower) instead of over the dash area. That really opens up the view from the driver's seat and all other seats in the coach.

Procrastinate now . . . don't wait.
