To be honest when I pulled a trailer, the sway control was also the weight distribution. The Car I was pulling it with would drop four inches if I took it off. So I always left it on till I was ready to drop the trailer where it was going to sit.
I know others on here with these moncho trucks don't have that concern. But the few turns you make with it engaged arn't that many. It is also designed to to take turns. But that was just me, and that was over fifteen years ago and don't think the engineering has change all that much. Bill

The sway bar came adjusted from the factory. The adjustment is in the nut/bolt under the handel. The Handel is simply a on, off lever. Bottom it out, and make it level with the tongue.
No. you don't have to remove it to turn. You are supposed to loosten the handel some in the rain, and most directions say to remove it when backing.

We just got a new sway bar and weight dist. setup for our new trailer and the dealer told us to tighten the sway bar until it was tight, don't overforce it. He told us never to back up with it on. So if yours is like ours, you turn it a few times until tight and thats it. Hope that helps.

What I was told is to use your two fingers closest to your thumb and tighten the bar down as much as you can with only your two fingers. Works for me....

That's what I do! You don't need to take it off for turns, but you do need to take it off when backing up.

You tighten it all the way then back off to align the lever with the bar. If you feel you need more or less friction, the nut on the bottom is to be turned in 1/4 turn increments then tested. The only reason to take it off when backing is to prevent breaking it if you jackknife too far. I used one for years and never loosened it when backing, just was careful not to turn too sharply. The friction will have no affect on backing.

I have been using the friction bar since they came out about 45 years ago. I tighten the bar down real snug even with the tongue. I have never removed for backing or turning or in the rain ! The only time I remove is when I set up in a site when I disconnect the TT. It has worked for me for thousands of miles and a lot of different TVs

so when u say tighten it up you mean the handle right? There is a nut/bolt on mine to but thats for more tension right? or increase in wear then i adjust that nut right? otherwise just use the handle?what comes adjusted from factory the handle or the nut part?
