this weekend we traveled for the first time with passengers in the dinette slide out area. At the campground, the slide would only extend about one inch-then stop. After rocking it back and forth a dozen times with the control switch, it extended out--and continues to work fine.

Any ideas or experience with this situation??

Thanks, Larry

yes--fully charged batteries, and even fired up the V10 just to make sure I had enough juice!

I just had the exact problem and they replaced the motor...under warranty. Now it works fine.

My problem was similar. The culprit was the motor. In my case, the motor could not be replaced so they had to do the entire hydraulic pump assembly. Ouch...

You may want to visit your manufacturer's website to see if they have any other troubleshooting docs. One thing I did with mine was to put power directly to the motor. If the motor moves the slideout w/o hesitation, you may have something else going on. Check voltage at the motor to make sure you don't have a bad ground/power source somewhere.

the motor appears to work fine--I'm just wondering if the problem had anything to do with the fact that I had passengers sitting in that area while driving?!

Hey Larry, I should have asked before..do have electric or hydraulic operated slides? You're not trying to open it with people sitting in/on it are you?
If electric, could be a loose connection someplace.

Um, I don't mean to sound smart arsed here-please forgive as it's not my intention. My dinette slide has stickers that say "This seat not for occupancy while vehicle is in motion". It also has no seat belts in it. The sofa slide has seat belts, and no "no occupancy" stickers. If your dinette doesn't have seat belts in it, you should not have people in it while underway. It also may not be heavy duty enough to move people. It looks like the electric motor in my sofa/kitchen slide might be a tad larger than the one that only contains the dinette..

The dinette and sofa in my Jayco are belted seating positions. I was on the road last week with family sitting in the dinette while traveling and had no issues operating the slide out.

Sounds like you need to have the motor checked.
