Question: is there anyhting wrong with using a 25', 12 gauge extension cord to hook up shore power to my TH for the purpose of only charging the batteries? My TH needs to be about 10 feet closer to the power source, and rather than move it, I was wondering if I could use the extension cord to connect the existing power cord to the outlet in my garage.

And, if I can use the extension cord to charge only the batteries, what about turning on the fridge? I would like to get it to cool down before we roll this weekend, and the TH is level where it sits. So again, I would like to leave the TH where it sits and use the extension cord. Would this cause any problems, or am I flirtin' with disaster? The specs on the cord, for what it's worth, read SJTW, 12/3C, 15 amps, 125V, 1875W.

I have a ext. cord hooked to mine all the time, it charges, runs the frige and the the A/C if needed. Its prolly a 12 guage not huge but not a typical smaller cord.

I use a 75 footer to charge my batteries and cool down the fridge, no issues.

I use a 25' 12ga cord and sometimes I even run my A/C. The biggest problem I have had are the cheap built 30a to 15a adapter plugs. They will melt if I run the A/C too long. I have to watch them. I've replaced three of them so far. One day I'm going to make a good adapter that won't be a problem.

At 25', you're totally fine, I stick to 10 gauge for anything longer.

Something to consider is buying a 30amp extension cord. I bought one when I used a generator I left in the bed of my truck. I use it now to hook up to the house, even if I am only using 15/20amp there is less loss on the line. You are fine using an extension cord though, I do that too when I need to charge the batteries and run the fridge. Just avoid using the high draw appliances like the microwave or AC.
