About 40 miles east of Barstow on I 40 we came upon a Class A burned to the ground. It looked liked they got the Toad off the dolly and it was parked about 30 yards behind the the remains. The tow dolly tires were burned off. Anyone have any further info. A sad sight indeed!!

It looked like a gasser from what I could see, the CHP was trying to get everyone through as fast as possible. It was hot, 100 plus and I cant really speculate on what happened. But I assume everyone got out since they saved the Toad.

Thanks. I keep wishing I could find a source of MH fire cases and the thoughts on causes. I thought we had a fire when we first got our parking brake cable reconnected but I had failed set it firmly and I drive a short distance at low speed and it must have been burning the grease off of it.

As we drive in the western deserts we see many large black burned spots on the right shoulder. They are the result of vehicle fires due to overheating etc. They are usually on an upgrade and I've seen a few near the emergency phones spotted along the road. I've only heard of one that was a diesel most class A RV fires are in gassers that are older.
As you travel take note of these burned spots on the pavement, they are a reminder that good maintenance is a must.

News media reported it as a MOBILE HOME, not motorhome.

An uninformed reporter took a phone report from CHP dispath. It was a motorhome, it had a tow dolly and a small SUV as a toad.
