I had been looking for a router that would allow my wife and I to get online with our AT&T card at the same time. I recently purchased a Cradlepoint CTr500. It has worked great. My next step is to make my printer wireless. I really need to find a system that will handle two printers. Any ideas? Thanks.

Bob-

Good question. I believe the CTR has one ethernet port. Not sure if anyone makes an ethernet splitter. I've never seen one...but it could be out there.

That said, we use the WiFi In Motion kit which has a router with 4 ports, signal booster, antenna, etc. The nice thing about the multi-port router is that we can plug in a networked printer, voice over IP phone, online gaming system, etc.

When it comes to networked printers, be sure to research wireless connection reliability...we have an HP printer, and it is very "sketchy" when it comes to printing wirelessly. Every once in a while, it seems to get "attitude" and decides it no longer wants to print wirelessly. We've ruled out the router and isolated it to the HP printer.

I hope this info helps, and good luck!

You should be able to attach multiple devices to the ethernet port of the CTR-500 with a network hub or a network switch.

Bob,

Can you tell me what aircard you are using? I have AT&T and am considering doing what you did with the two lap tops. How does the CTR 500 work for you?

I have the AT&T card and our last 3 trips (New Jersey, Pennsylvania & West Virginia) yielded us ZERO connectivity. I hope you have better luck. We're going on one more trip this coming week and if we have any issues at all we are cancelling our service. Best of luck!

There are several Wi-Fi print servers out there, Linksys makes one, D-Link, Net Gear, Hawking, and.. Well most every company that makes routers makes print servers.

Just get two of 'em, different brands suggested.

Sprint and Verizon are the way to go for data card. Both offer the best data coverage. Using the "wifi in motion" solution ha allowed u to ue multiple computers, plus get enhanced coverage all at the same time.

emmmw - I am sorry that you have had such a difficult time with your AT&T card. I travel on the West coast. Denver is about as far East as I get. In the area that I travel, AT&T has given me the best service. I know people that have all of the different services. Sometimes, their coverage is better than mine, but not most of the time.

djbogue - I have a Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U. In our travels and at home, the CTR 500 has done very well. The only time we have had a difficulty is when we tried to use a password on the system. We may figure that out later, but I have been pleasantly surprised with this unit.
