We are considering both Aerolite and Outbacks - 21 or 23 with Q hard slides and bunks. Any feedback on these brands would be very helpful - warnings, quality issues? We are interested in either new or used no older than 06.
I can't speak for the Aerolite, but our Keystone Hornet has been one great TT since the day we left the dealer's lot. We love it! When we looked at Outbacks, we thought they were very well constructed and had great features. For more information, head to Outbackers.com and ask some questions there. Good luck!

We bought an Aerolite 21QS last year and have been very happy with it. The only real problem we have had is that one of the cables on the slideout frayed causing a jam and had to be replaced under warrenty. My Air now has a problem as of Sat., but that is not due to the TT or Thor. Otherwise we have stayed in ours more then 80 days and have towed it more then 10,000 miles. I have done a bunch of mods to mine to optimize storage, etc. You can see the mods at my family web page at bettenga.com. If you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to answer.

I know it is not either of the brands you are looking at but my 1st TT was a Gulfstream Gulfbreeze 23TRS that had a hard rear slide. Myself and others here have had issues with the slide due to it's design flaws. Be sure to make sure either brand has sufficient support for the slide when retracted. Ours was held by one rail that IIRC ran behind the sofa. Totally inadequate. I have seen some that use rails and rollers on the ceiling of the TT that look alot more secure. Also pay close attention to the cable operated slideouts if they are not supported by anything else. Key things would be cable tension, chain tension and the motor mounts. I am personally no fan of cable slides. Both our Gulfstreams had NORCO Cable slides. Other than that I have seen and talked to many happy Aerolite owners so far in my travels. I think the Outback has the better design. looking at their website the slide is supported by braces when extended whereas I don't see any photos of Aerolites slides on their web page.
I had a Outback 27RSDS that had a rear slide and never had an issue with the trailer. I rear slide is supported by two rails that attach to the bumper and the back of the trailer, it slides across the rails very easy. The only downside I can say about the rear slide is that you have to store the rails and it adds a little bit of time setting up. Other than that, I liked the rear sliding queen bed.
