I was noticing as I pulled into my garage the other night when my car's headlights shined on my truck that there seems to be a wet area on the rear diff kinda where the pumpkin meets the left axle housing towards the top , perhaps from a vent? Also I had the truck serviced at the Ford Quicklane the other day and maybe they topped it off and spilled some oil. Any other similar experiences? I've been using it to tow my camper, I hope there's not an issue with the rear end. Thanks

BTW, it's a 3:73 Rear non-limited slip. Truck details in signature.

i would get under it to see exactly where it is coming from. could be the pinion seal and it runs down the housing to that side. or it could be what you said. would know til you know where it is coming from...

I had the same thing, bring it in. I believe mine was a seal (can't recall inner/outer whatever), it shouldn't be too big of a repair bill, I don't believe mine was.

I just had my pinion seal replaces after 27000 miles. My differential was pretty wet from the slinging of the oil.

I got underneath, and it is right where the pumpkin attaches to the rest of the axle housing. There appears to be some sort of pin that holds the pumpkin and the axle housing together. Who knows? I wonder if towing my 7500lb-8000lb loaded 26' Puma had anything to do with it?

Oh, and one more thing, I checked that diff oil level, and Those Bastards at the quicklane didn't even check the rear diff oil. It was obvious the plug had never been removed and the oil is a tad bit low. I knew there was a reason I always change my own oil! Multi-Point inspection my A$$!!!

myself, I would just watch and see if develops further. As long as it is not forming a drip that is.

Considering it's still on warranty, I'll probably just take it in next week and have them look at it. As long as they don't use the famous "it's normal" line because I swear I'll strangle the service advisor.
