There were two construction areas around and just north of Scranton that may cause some delay, depending when and what time of day you go thru there. Went thru that area over 4th of July weekend and must say it was the WORST construction I've ever been in, mostly due to INCONSIDERATE and OBNOXIOUS drivers.

I was on a partial stretch on 7/28, but I only went as far north as Scranton on I-81 then over to I-84 E/B, retuned on 7/29. There is a 8 mile 1 lane construction zone (both ways) from the 107 MP to the 115 MP. Depending on who you were behind, depended on your speed.
At around the 183 MP N/B there was some bridge work being done and a several mile backup as a result. GPS routed me around the long way onto US Rt 11, but ultimately got past the tie-up.
It's kinda funny you asked, because I was thinking as I was going through that crap, that I should post it on this forum.

We are planning on heading through that area this Saturday, hoping that the construction won't be active. Has anyone driven this route on weekends and do you think it would be a tough ride still?

DanET--Traffic is going to be very, very heavy this weekend in ths area. The Nascar race is at the Poconos and they are expecting 100,000 people. Might want ro try to avoid 81.

Good Point! Now that I read this, I remember seeing a couple of the Sprint Cup trailers heading north on I-81 on Tuesday! Also saw one or two team haulers headed that way.
I-81 was always a bear when we went to the Poconos for the races back in the early/mid '90's. Can't imagine what it is like now!
