As summer comes to an end for my kids, I would like to take them on a trip to the Long Beach aquariam on the last weekend before school starts. Has anyone ever camped in Long beach and if so, did you like the campground?
The campground is just a few short walking blocks from the aquarium. Although I have not stayed there, I drive by it several times a week. It's small, but very well maintained. The pool looks clean as does the laundry rooms and other support buildings. The only downside is that the sites appear to be very close together.
Been to the aquarium several times - you'll enjoy it. There are several nice restaurants in the immediate area as well which may be a bonus.
I can't think of any RV parks in the area of the Long Beach Aquarium. Although, I really haven't had the need to look. I am thinking that there may be some in the area where the Queen Mary is on display. Not sure, it just seems to me that I have heard of some. I may be thinking of moorings for boats. The Queen Mary is just across the bay from the aquarium and there is a shuttle boat that makes the run quite often. Although you could drive it in about five minutes. The water taxi would be less hassle and more fun for the kids.... and perhaps the adults as well.
You might also try Huntington Beach State and City Beach's. These are very popular spaces as they are on the beach, however you might luck out. Huntington Beach would be about a half hour drive to the Aquarium. There are also a couple of private parks in Huntington Beach that are right across Pacific Coast Highway from the beach. One of them is off of Newland and the other is off of PCH.
Try the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce there must be something in the area.
The closest site I can find to Long Beach is Bolsa Chica State Beach about 1.5 miles north of Huntington Beach. Length limit is 48'. It's a parking lot configuration.
