I have a 2007 Rockwood 30' TT and the t-stat in it is all over the place. There is no comfort zone. All night long I get up and turn it up, turn it down. A real pain! Took it to Fun Time Dealer and he said nothing was wrong.
Since this is our first TT ...Is this normal. Would it help to put a digital t-stat. FYI..my t-stat controls both cool and heat functions.
Thanks for any help.

I did the Hunter digital mod on my Cruiser. Works great and an easy upgrade. Do a search on this site (Hunter) and also at crossroadsrv.com/forums. There is plenty of information there.

FunTime's RV techs may be "pulling your leg", but they may not be. The "anticipator" in most RV thermostats is not very accurate, and usually allows more temperature "swing" than your home thermostat before calling for heating or cooling. But your trailer is not insulated to the same level as your home, and if the thermostat tried to keep the trailer within 1 degree of it's setting, it would turn the furnace or A/C on almost immediately after the unit stopped running. The units would short-cycle, on-off,on-off,on-off, etc. So the thermostat allows a few degrees of "swing" before the unit comes back on to provide heat or cooling again. A digital unit would be more exacting, but you are still heating and cooling a travel trailer, not a well-insulated house.
FunTime's service department did a good job on warranty work on the trailer we bought from them in 2002. The only complaint I had was that I literally had to "stay on their backs" in order for them to work on our trailer. Their dealership is so big, and they have so many units at a time in for service, that the "squeaky" wheel is usually the only one which gets the "grease". When possible, I would arrange to have the trailer there when the gates opened in the morning, and would stay with it until the work was finished the same day. We never had any work done on that trailer which required more than 8 hours to complete.

The expensive t'stat in the RV is a P-O-S. The Hunter will out perform the OEM t'stat and you will be much happier.

Go to WalMart and get a Hunter Digital Stat for $20.00 and replace it. I have 2 in our 5er for the 2 A/C's. Wouldn't be without them.

I installed a digital thermostat in our popup, our hybrid, and I just installed a Hunter digital programmable one in our new TT. They make a big difference. Total install time should be less that 15 minutes.
