Hi, I would like to know if anyone has or what they think about Continued Service Plan Insurance On there 5th wheel or trailer and truck from Good Sams ( CSP ) plan. They will cover the truck up to 115,000 Miles. It covers trans, Drive Train and engine. On the trailer it covers most everything includeing the slideouts.
Thanks for any information

CSP is a waste of money. A high percentage of folks buy this garbage thinking that they are covered, only to find out Good Sam won't follow through when something breaks. I'm one of them. Don't waste your money.

Its a waste of money untill you need it and it pays for your expensive repairs.

Please give the details on what broke and why Good Sam did not cover it.

Refrigerator stopped working on gas on our previous RV (2001 Montana 3670RL). It would only work on electric. Took it to a keystone dealership and had them troubleshoot the problem. Repair bill was going to be $250. I submitted to CSP to pay the repair bill and the answer I got was that they would pay for the repair if the refrigerator stopped working all together, but since it was working on electric they would not pay for the repair.
CSP was charging me $26 a month and in the 2 years I had their coverage, that was the only claim I ever submitted. Like I said, don't waste your money.
I also don't appreciate your insinuation that what I am sharing is somehow not the truth. Some of us have integrity.

Read the fine print for exclusions, Good Sam's CSP does not cover rubber hoses and seals as an example. I had CSP for one year and they paid for a new starter for my Onan generator but, would not pay when I had a hydraulic hose break on my levelers. This is very important with any of service contracts you must GET PRIOR APPROVAL for the repair. If you go for reimbursement after the fact they will all refuse the claim. If you decide a service contract is for you shop around and read the fine print. Also call up your dealer's service manager and ask which ones he liked dealing with and which ones were the worse for approving claims. I bought one when I bought my new motorhome and since it was new there are no exclusions except for maintenance items and wear and tear like tire replacement. It is a seven year or 100,000 mile bumper to bumper coverage contract. Service contracts are not for everyone and everyone has their opinion as good or bad. With all the electronics and complicated systems on motorhome, I just wanted the peace of mind if something serious went wrong.

Sorry Outdoorsman, I didn't mean to besmirch your integrity. I just meant that Good Sam might have an explanation. Seems to me that if it is not working properly, then it is not working. I also didn't mean to imply that a CSP is good. It is insurance and like all insurance they will find a way out if at all possible.

Emotions run high and opinions are strong with these types of coverage. I've used them _some_ when I'd done some level of risk assessment. The best extended coverage call I've made involved a Volvo AWD where the coverage company paid $3800 for the gadget that splits the drive force between the front and rear axels. I paid $850 for the coverage. I did read all the fine print on the coverage document, and I did know that this component was subject to frequent failure, and that it was specifically covered.

Based upon my experiences with Good Sam CSP, I would not recommend anyone waste their money on Good Sam CSP. They cover nothing and give you only a run around and delays on everything. What a waste. Also, as an 11 year Lifetime Good Sam member, I am looking for another club based upon my 2008 experiences. Does anyone know of a trustworthy club?
