Back in the late 1960s my dad took the whole family for a week of camping in Lancaster, PA in a rented PUP that was already setup on site. About 2 months later we went back and did it again only that time when we pulled out the PUP was in tow behind the station wagon. Turned out that the dealer and campground were one-in-the same and they sold a lot of RVs by getting people to rent them for a bit first.

There are several campgrounds that do the same thing around here.

That is very common up here in the northeast. It is not cheap. It can run $1400 plus for a week in the summer. My brother rented one July 4th weekend at a campground in upstate NY and it cost $160/night.

We stayed in a campground about a hour from Itasca State Park in Minnesota. It had TT's for rent on site. Quite interesting.

Here's a thought. I know this is off forum, but ever consider a

Caboose Motel?

Horse Motel? We stayed in a "Horse Motel" in Missouri a couple years ago and had an absolute fantastic time. No, we do not have horses. But the price for the facility (it was actually an entire house) was much cheaper than a motel. We needed space for several people.

How about something REALLY different? Scroll down through this page! Wow!

or

Tree house camping.

or another Tree House. Check out the JAVA images!

Do you have any specific links to a campsite close to you that provides this type of setup ?

I'm within two hours of your area.

Thanks in advance if you do.

We were just at a CG in the thumb of Michigan and they had 5 units on the property that were for rent. One was an outback with the hard slide bed, another was an older 5th wheel and I didn't check out the other 3. I assume these belong to someone and they are renting it out to help make some money.
