We went to the Oregon Dunes 7/6-7/15. As always stayed at the KOA in North Bend, it was our 6th year.

We stayed Sunday night at Seven Feathers RV Resort in Cayonville, Or. What a great place, super clean place, pretty inexpensive, and very friendly. If you have not stayed there, it is a great stopover. Only bad thing was they were remolding the ice cream shop at the casino and it was closed. The kids were not happy about that one.

We pulled into KOA on Monday and got ready for the week. The Sandfest crowds had not showed up yet, and we had the KOA and the dunes pretty much to our self. The wind was pretty bad this year and the sand was blowing good.

Tuesday a friend and I were taking a ride down to the Sandfest Staging Area from the KOA. We were going up and over the taller dunes. On the third one or so, we were on our way down the back side. The wind and shadows made it tough to gauge the dunes, and sure enough, we hit about a 6' drop half way down. My buddy was first, and went over the top of his bars. I pulled up to try and level out, which I did, but I hit my wrist on impact.

It figures, second day out and already a trip to the ER. Dislocated the left wrist, completely broke the radius, and most of the ulna. Needless to say my riding vacation was over. They re-set it and splinted me up. It reset perfect and luckily, will not need surgery.

We stayed the rest of the trip, and they got to go on the HellsGate Jet Boat in Grants Pass. I'll have to wait till next year on that one.

With everything going on with Weekend Warrior, I must say, they really did get it right with the Road Warrior. Quality, fit and finish, and layout are all great. It handled and pulled great, even pulling a car trailer with a jeep and quad on it. It got about 9 MPG, which for about 29k, is not to bad. I had a Steering Stabilizer put on at Henderson's, and will have track bars put on in a few months.

I should be out of the cast early September and back to 100% soon after. The Dr said because of the severe nature of the break and dislocation, it will probably be prone to injury in the future. It looks like it may be for sale time for the Outlaw, I just am in denial. The good news it its an excuse to build the RZR up!

Sorry to hear about your accident. I know it is a real bummer when you spend so much time preparing for your vacation and don't get to ride. Heal up soon.

Bummer about the injury.

There are some nasty drops out there.

We were up there around the same time. . . got there the 11th and left the 19th.

I'm already ready to go back! Can't wait to ride more.

I'm actually burning some Helmet Cam footage to DVD right now.

Would like to get out to St. Anthony next year. . . it's been a couple years and I really love the dunes there. Two years in a row to Oregon is enough for me.

I strongly suggest using the injury as an excuse to the Wife as to why you need to sell yours and buy the new RZR-S (Long Travel model). That new RZR-S looks awesome.

Good job on the wrist! No hardware is a bonus......Early September riding seems pretty ambitious based on my current wrist injury.

Two non-displaced fractures in my wrist June 19 while trail riding my dirt bike. Won't be out of the splint full time until August 21st at best. You are right these type injuries being prone to easier fracture from impacts in the future. Did the ER people treat you good or did they give you the motorized recreation sermon with a cold shoulder?

Thanks for all the good thoughts. Despite the injury, we had a good time. We spent alittle time exploring Oregon, and I discovered an addiction for Dutch Brothers Coffee!

The ER people treated me real well. Sure, I got plenty of "Oh here we go, the first one of Sand Fest" but it was all in good fun, and everyone was really nice and helpful. The Dr there is the reason I do not need surgery. He did a fantastic job resetting it, "One in a Million" as my Dr here said.

RTOYZ- Sorry I missed out on the Poker Run, hopefully next year. What I did see of SandFest on Tuesday, it looked like it was going to go well, except for the wind!!

Scott - October is it? We'll be ready!!

DuneMe - How about that wind huh? It was the worst I have seen up there. St. Anthony's does sound good for next year sometime. We have not been yet. My wife loves Oregon and it's kinda become a yearly thing for us and some friends. Yeah, that RZR S looks great, it may be a possibility! Know anyone who wants an Outlaw 525? I would love to see that helmet-cam footage!!

MapGuy - Get healed up, i feel your pain...literally!! I don't know about riding early Sept., but at least they saw i'll be out of the cast, now physical therapy, thats another thing!!

I know one thing, I can't wait to get Optimus Prime back on the road!!

Stay Safe
