We don't have an instaboat, but we do have a Porta Bote. It's a type of plastic. We've owned it for 10 years -- it folds up and we have it mounted on the side of our 5th wheel. It's been over rocks, pulled up steep banks, and is still going strong. It had a 10 year guarantee, but it should last a lot longer with no problems. We bought it directly from the factory.
Check it out here: http://www.porta-bote.com/
My husband weighs about 240 lbs and can carry several other passengers--I think it's rated for 850 lbs???

I'm very happy with my 12'6" Porta Bote and Nissan 4 cycle outboard. Think it's about 6 years old. Would not have anything else. Ideal for us RVers.

We have the 10' Porta Bote. Attaches to the slide on our TT. Perfect for the RV'r I am not sure what it's capacity is, but it would be more than enough for you and your friends

Given your weight, it probably would be more practical and safer to go with a Porta-Boat or an inflatable.

Jeeze, I hope someone will chime in that really has an INSTABOAT. I too am interested in the same boat, and I know all I want about the Porta Bote. I do not wish to have seats and transoms and stuff seperate from the boat. It really isn't quite as portable as it sounds. The literature claims that the Instaboat will handle 300+.
Consider this a bump to the top again.

I just bought an Instaboat but haven't tried it out yet. It is suppost to hold 450 lbs of gear, passengers, and motor.

Although I don't have one (yet), I think you should look into the Sea Eagle 370 sport kayak Link which will hold up to 600 lbs.
I follow the RV-Dreams website, and a few days ago they talked about an outing where they used their new "demo" Sea Eagle SE-370 Sport Kayak. You might want to read that entry. Link, they sure seemed to like it a lot, and they sure like the Sea Eagle SE-330 which they own. But the 370 provides "more leg room".
They also talk about how little space it takes up once they get it out of the water, dried off and put back in its carrying case.

The poor guy does not want a blow up boat, he does not want a plastic boat. He is asking about the instaboat which is made of aluminum and is currently sold at CW.
