Can't wait to see WV! We hope to stop and see Cass RR and then move on to Canaan Valley for a few days. What is best route? We have 33' diesel class A towing itty bitty aka "Little Whitey" car. We are from Flat Florida! eek!

like the most of W.V., there is only one road.

you will love Cass RR and Canaan Valley. DO ride in one of the enclosed cars on the RR site seeing up the hill. they use a restored coal fired engine and the soot gets very heavy at times and will stick to your clothes. if you want the full "open air" experience, buy a through way poncho and ride one of the open cars.

either way, it is an experience of a life time! enjoy!

If you are coming from Florida I assume you will be entering WV on I-77. Here is a good route. From I-77 take I-64 over to 219. Follow 219 north into Marlington. There go east on 39 to connect onto 28 North. 28 is an easy drive for an RV and takes you through Greenbank (see the observatory free tour), Cass Railroad (be sure to take at least the 2 hour trip) and on to Seneca Rocks.....Seneca Shadows is a great campground with RV friendly roads and hookups. At Seneca Rocks you go west on 55 to connect with 32 north. This will lead you to Canaan Valley and the Black Water Falls area.
I have pulled my 5th Wheel on all of these roads with no problems.

Cass: Go down to the engine house before 9AM. They prep the trains then and it is fun to watch them move the engines around. We camped in Durbin at the N. Fork Campground. It doesn't amount to much but it is cheap and right on the tracks of the Durbin Rocket. The Rocket was running a Climax steamer then. Worth a ride on that if it is still in operation. Take the long trip to Bald Knob at Cass. The Boyer Motel also has a cg that is cheap. It was $15 in 2004. Nothing fancy. For $5 you can stay in the parking lot at Cass right on the river. Be sure to explore the village of Cass.

Canaan SP is great. Try their dining room at the hotel especially Sunday brunch. Big John's toward Davis is good too.

Great golf course in the park and a great park for kids though usually not many there. Mini golf, paint ball, skate board park, pools, mountain biking.

We'll be there the first two weeks of OCT and then move to Stonewall SP for the last two weeks. Canaan is very, very nice and you will love it, but Jackson makes Canaan look just so-so.

Stonewall is below Weston just off I-79.

WV has outstanding state parks. If you haven't done it go to 50states.com. Click on WV and then scroll down to state parks. A great website for all states and their parks.
