We will be in Valdez next week and probably need to make reservations now, but we are undecided upon which park we should go to. Hear a lot about Bear Paw, but Eagle's Rest is a GS park and advertises free wifi. Can't find that on Bear Paw's advertisements. Anyone have any opinions?
thanks

We stayed at Bear Paw over the July fourth weekend. The park is nothing but a gravel lot, but they all are. The wifi worked for us, but we were close to the office. It's right across the street from the small boat harbor, the setting is magnificent. Take a look at RV Park Reviews and see what others think of all the parks.
We loved Valdez,

Well I may be a bit prejudice, but we have always stayed at Eagle's Rest since the first time we went to Valdez.
The people there are great and the facilities are clean and well-cared for. They can help you with anything you need from help with a flat tire (our first trip) to charter fishing, to help booking a tour.
You are right next to the grocery store and a block away from the small boat harbor so everything is convenient.
There is even a place out back to park your toad or boat if you have one. And when we were there a couple weeks ago there was plenty of room and it was really nice to be able to "stretch out". The wifi and TV works in all sites too.
Eagle's Rest gets top ratings in our book!

We've stayed at Eagle's Rest and found that it's friendly, helpful and centrally located. Discount whale watching rides on the "LuLU Belle. Next year we're going again.

Bear Paw has two parks in Valdez, the main one on the marina and a smaller one that is on the water a short distance away. The smaller one is nicer and quieter but is often booked by caravan groups. If you can get a spot there I recommend it.

We stayed at Bear Paw II (the smaller adult only park), on the water in 2003. We are going back next year. It was our favorite CG in Alaska.

We stayed at the Sea Otter facing the small boat inlet and looking across the sound to the pipeline terminal. This was in 2005, maybe it is no longer there.

Don, Sea Otter RV Park is still there however, at the time we were there, it was all but empty. I understand they were having power issues and that plus the reduced tourist industry this year made Sea Otter park virtually empty - only a dozen or so rigs there.

Be careful at Bear Paw I(off the water) with the electrical service-last year some of the sites had low voltage, others did not.

We stayed at Sea Otter last week. It is right on the water and in the mornings we would watch a sea lion swim by. We had no problems with anything at all except for the flooding in the lot due to all the rain they had been having. The interior sites were dry. You wouldn't need a reservation. I really couldn't tell you why they were so empty.
