Tuesday she goes in to have surgery. She is going on 8 months and she began to look like she might go into heat!!! Oh No!! Her female relatives have not had first heat until about 1 year according to the breeder, but we may be out of luck. Let's hope she does not go into heat before Tuesday. We thought we had time to finish the obedience class she is in. Well, guess we will miss a session!

It sounds like your baby girl is growing up Barb! They don't stay puppies very long, do they? I'm glad you are doing right by her and going ahead with her spay surgery.
Best wishes for a fast recovery!

She will only be out of circulation for a couple of days - they recover very quickly. And thanks for doing it!! I am into pet rescues and it is unbelievable how many people do not and we get so many unwanted pets that way!!

Yep, just like human kids, they start to show signs of puberty before it actually occurs. You probably caught it just in time. I think both of our pups were about 8-9 mos old when spayed. The trainer may help you figure out how to make up the lesson missed.

Good for you Barb...I'm sure this isn't your first one.
We had Lucy done for her six month birthday present. They sure do grow
up fast, I can't believe our Lucy will be a year old in just six days.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

All of our dogs have been spayed or neutered. I leave the breeding to people who study it and breed for the best health of the breed. A good breeder enhances the health of the gene pool.
Koko was spayed at 6 months as were all my females, but we just got Willow and started her in class. With the other females in her line coming in season closer to 1 year, I thought we had time to complete obedience!!! Silly me!!
So far so good - now if we can just make it to Tuesday.

Hi Barb,
Just got back from a four day local RV trip. Wishing Willow the best for her surgery and a speedy recovery too. Do you think that her not being spayed contributed to her Wilda Beast moniker?
Chloie is now 5 1/2 months and is showing NO signs of letting up on Moonbeam. Maybe she would calm down a little if we spay her sooner rather than later. We had several nasty fights during these four days in the RV. We have a dog trainer/animal behaviorist coming over this Sunday. Sure hope that she can help!
Good luck Willow and hope you will feel much better soon.
Regards,

I don't know if not being spayed yet could have anything to do with her enthusiasm!!! Anyway she went camping with us this weekend and did well. She has learned not to dart out the door it seems. However, I cannot trust her when I take out the other dog. She goes in the crate when BenBen goes out for a walk. She is getting in and out of the motorhome pretty well. She jumps up on the bed in the AM and clobbers me. Just does a flying plop on top of me. I think she will still be Wilda Beast for a while!!
