Hi fellow B+ Ownwers with the standard Ford E350/E450 or the GM equivalent chassis.
With all the "Fuel Economy" discussions, I wonder how the Ford & GM chassis B+ is really doing. How bad or not so bad, do our units truely compare to the Sprinter diesel chassis? I wonder if the Sprinters were loaded up with a heavy curb weight from lots of extras plus a tow, then driven hard, they may not be so much better in fuel economy. Then again, maybe they still would be.
So I ask you, the following 9 questions to get a good idea of your Ford or GM chassis B+ fuel economy.
1) What year & chassis, & gas/diesel engine, is your motorhome built on?
2) What brand is your B+ motorhome? (R-Vision, Aspect, Concord, Melbourne, Phoenix Cruiser, Chinook, BT Cruiser, Lexington, Starflyte, other)
3) How long is your B+ bumper tip-to-tip?
4) What is the B+ weight "Before" you load it up?
5) Please estimate the weight you add for a typical trip (including people, water, propane, food & gear)
6) Do you tow anything? If so, please estimate the tow curb weight.
7) What is your "Practiced" cruising speed on the open highway?
8) What was your best calculated gas mileage
9) What is your typical gas mileage with gas generator usage considered?
Here is mine
1) 2007 Ford E350 with the gas V10 engine
2) Phoenix Cruiser
3) 23'-8"
4) 9200 pounds empty
5) under 1000 pounds added
6) tow a 2100 pound car
7) 65-70 mph
8) unknown
9) 9.8 MPG with over 10 hours of 4kw generator usage

1. E-450 2004 V-10
2. BT Cruiser
3. 28 ft
4.14,000
5. add about 1200
6. tow a Prius on dolly 2900 car.
7.55-60 now was 70-75
8. 11.5 without tow
9. 10-11 without tow and about 1.5 less with tow-very little genny use.
Slower speeds makes big difference and when I tow Prius I easily make up the less mpg by driving it instead of moho for on the road side trips.
Lets see. First we do not own a B+ as they do not make them. Ours is a class C Aspect.
