We haven't been in a situation where the coach wasn't normal, about 76. Mind you, we're in the Memphis area and camp a lot in local CG's, so when it's hot in Memphis, it's really HOT. Top temp so far: 106 with humidity in the 90's. Lots of insulation in our Newmar and it seals well too. We have 3 units with ducting.

I think there is more to do with the unit. I find one unit on mine is good to about 95 degrees outside. I've never run the back unit after the RV was Cooled down. Wife doesn't like the noise or the fan blowing. But I keep it at around 74 to 78, depending on her hormoone level, not hormone. Bill

Ditto. We only have one air conditioner our RV and I find that 95 degrees is too hot for the one air conditioner to keep the RV cool. It's 102 right now, 5:30 pm in Nashville, TN and our inside temperature is 83 degrees. We have been parked for about three hours now.

I told my wife if we planned to spend a lot of time in weather like this I would have another air conditioner added but since we live in Washington State and rarely use an air conditioner near home we don't need another one.

On the way to Florida this year we stopped at Quartsite on the 20th of June. We got there at 3pm it was 117 degrees. Inside it was 83, with dual pane windows, awnings out, and the front curtain closed. By 9pm it was down to 75.

We have two 13,500 heat pumps, in 90° - 95° in Yuma we used one of them and did just fine even with all the slides out. But we have dual pane windows, Newmars are one the best insulated rigs, got the extra roof insulation package and have toppers over all the slides.

Most units can achieve a temperature differential of 20 or maybe 25 degrees below outside temperature. My experience is that the biggest variable that affects both heating and cooling is the glass area exposed to the sun. If you have awnings, use them. If you don't, consider installing them. an alternative might be some of the insulated screens with the reflective finish for the windshield and perhaps other windows. You'll be amazed at the difference they can make.

Every time this subject comes up, there are those that insist that your air conditioners can only cool 20 degree's lower than the outside Temp.....THAT is completely FALSE. In theory, your air conditioning units can cool 20 degrees lower than the ambient temp, that is, 20 degree's lower than the return air going into it. Of course alot comes into play and this is not cut and dry...but to think you can only cool a unit in 110 degree heat down to 90 degree's is untrue. This is a fact, I was in Pahrump NV at 117 degree's....I had two 13.5 airs going in a 37' MH, it was Cold eough inside that I had a sweatshirt on. IMHO

a cheaper alternative to adding a second roof top is a portable a/c, not a window unit, but a portable unit that uses a duct to disgard the hot air, which is easily adaptable to a window, i have a 13,500 roof top and on a 105 degree day it would muster about 85-88 inside, adding this 7000 btu portable it will stay around 76 and it only draws around 8 amps, plus i can take it to the house very easily,

Spent three days in Las Vegas at 113 degrees a few weeks ago. We were just fine. The A/C recirculates the inside air so keeping it cool was not a problem.

That was on blacktop at Circus Circus.
