The slideout is great when you are camping. The extra space is definitely handy when you have 4 or 5 people in a pup. The only problem I have with ours is that we can't get to the fridge without popping up because the slideout blocks the aisle when pushed in.

We have an E3 and the slide out makes the experience easy with larger groups and larger people. I'm 6 foot 270 and fit comfortably in the slide out dinette with kids and extras. It's very welcome for us; we often have an extra couple stay in the PUP with us.

Storage is not an issue for us though, we store a bunch of wood on the porch and everything else goes in the bed of the truck. When we get the 4 Wheeler, then we might have storage issues, but not now.

Also, the slide out becomes a good size bed. We sleep 3 little ones (up to 8 years) in the slide out when converted to a third bed!

We rented a pup before we bought and it didn't have a slide out. When it rained things were pretty cramped with the kids bouncing off the walls. The slide out REALLY changes the feel inside. Makes it a whole lot more livable when you're forced inside.

DW insisted that we have a PUP that has no 'obstructions' to getting into bunkends.
Having a slide-out dinette gives us a full, 12 feet, of unobstructed aisle from bunk-end to bunk-end. Makes the unit a lot more roomy.
We also got that option as we opted for an indoor shower. We could not do that without a slide-out dinette (at least on Jayco model we purchased).
The bunk-end only adds 5 minutes of setup time, if you're thinking of that.

My vote is for the slide-out. We have 3 kids and a 106 lb dog (he takes up a lot of floor space). We just returned from a long PUP trip, 33 days, believe me the slide-out helps. On most of the trip we had 3 extra kids sleeping inside plus 4 extra adults eating in if it rained (12 people total) everyone fit comfortably.

Thanks all for posting your opinions. Our TV will be a full size pickup, and so I guess there will be plenty of storage room in it. Having extra space in the PUP would be nice, I'll definately have to check out one that has it. Thanks again.

We love our slide out dinette! Not only is there more floor space, but the way our curtains slide in our PU, the dinette bed has just as much privacy as the bunkends (which was great when we took my stepson with us to Virginia Beach and he was stuck in the camper with two teenaged girls!). Remember that your young children will grow and before you know it, you will need more room!

We don't have a slide-out and wish we did. If you want to check, go to an RV show or the dealership and get everyone in your family inside. Then, have the two largest people try to pass each other. You'll quickly decide it's well worth it.
