Would you buy a house without seeing it in person?
All the units are open to sll inspections you want to make.

I agree that there's a significant risk to buy without inspecting but I was relying on the seller to provide a pretty accurate description of the condition (which I was a bit disapointed about) and it's also risk vs reward; we paid roughly 45% of NADA low retail (after high mileage allowance) for it so I was leaving a fair amount of room for repairs and unexpected surprises.
To use your example, if I could buy a house with a market value of $180k for $100k and had a general idea of the condition, I might go for it too.

Yep, if the margin was enough I sure would. Have bought several vehicles sight unseen, over the phone and online. If the price is right then the risk is minimal. Never been burned yet but it could happen.
Just a matter of what a person is comfortable with I guess. If you are not comfortable with a transaction such as this would be then by all means do not do it.
