Who knows how long it will last but so far Canada seems to be bucking that trend.

The big increases in Japanese sales are in their most fuel efficient models, their truck sales are pretty much in the tank like everyone else. Surprise surprise.

That would be my point there Ron....everyday I see good-ole Capt Skup and PSD....no it's Van 8.1 now a days right, posting Chrysler this and Ford that and GM lost this, but how come when anything negative comes out about the Import transplants you don’t see them post anything about their sales tanking just the Domestics.
Just thought I would point this out, also noticed you didn’t post this question on any of their postings there Ron, wonder way that is, do tell Ron. Maybe it has to do with the truck you drive?

Don
Don, Ron makes a good point. Notice the Big 3 are showing the largest loss numbers. ALL auto sales are down except for the small high mileage ones. FWIW I thought I read a recent report that Honda had sales grow last quarter. It wasn't a lot but it was not the loss you link shows. They are selling Civics like hotcakes. Honda also did not get as armpit deep in truck sales as Toyota and the Big 3 and even Nissan to an extent. Their gas hogs are the Pilot and Ridgeline. A total of two.
Keith I’m not slamming Ron or anyone else that drives an import but there are a few on this board that for some warped reason seem to take pride in the fact that the Big Three are in a fight for their life and are not faring very well. My post was in response to the recent postings making it look like only the Big Three are in a slump.
Maybe it’s jealousy over our wage and benefits package, maybe it’s just they don’t under stand that if the Big Three close there won’t be a livable wage in America or Canada for that matter.
For all you guys that think your middle management jobs are safe you had better think again. And for the few of you non union workers that are making a livable wage right now, you are in for a rude awakening. When our jobs go and or wages drop what do you think is going to happen to yours, that’s right there going to drop as well.
Only your $15/20 dollar an hour job will go down to $8/15 if you’re lucky without any bennies.
Not looking for a Union verses Non Union debate only pointing out the direction this Country is heading.
One last thought the workers have no control over the direction the Big Three go, as in what cars and trucks we build, Management does that. When I started at Chrysler I said or asked why it was we don’t build any fuel efficient vehicles (well there was the Neon)? I asked this again in 2002 when I (a lowly Tool Maker) could see that putting a Hemi in everything we build was not a real bright thing to do. “Hay does that thing Got a Hemi?” will only get you so far guys. The whole time Daimler owned us the only thing they did for Chrysler was dig us a Grave! I can only hope that now that they are gone we can work our way back out of the hole those Ignorant Morons put us in. And don’t tell me that they didn’t see this coming because if they didn’t God help the Heavy Truck Divisions they stole from Chrysler.
Freightliner along with Thomas Bus was owed by Chrysler long before Daimler (Dammlire) took over. Were do you think all of Chryslers cash went after the take over, Daimler (see above) went on a buying frenzy and bought Sterling Truck along with 5 other Companies. Do a search and you will find this out.
