I would be really careful on what you put on the rubber roof! The cure might do more damage than the sap! I also am under fir and pine trees, used regular dish soap cleaner with soft brush and it came right up....WD-40 might contain chemicals that will remove more than the sap.

Yes, I would check with your manufacturer for the proper cleaners to use on the rubber roof. NO Petroleum Products! That includes WD40!! Rubi!

im pretty sure WD-40 wouldnt be good on the rubber roof. it was made to be a water displacement spray...hence the WD. that will dry out the rubber in no time. it might be ok on the siding if you wash and wax it right away. but i wouldnt risk it.

make sure you read the ingredients on the bug & tar remover too, it may have chemicals that could harm the rubber. i dont know, i havent investigated it yet, but just a word of caution.

good luck, let us know what you find that works.

The absolute best thing I have found for pine sap is isopropyl alcohol.
It works on hardened and new sap.

I don't have a "rubber" roof (it's actually a plastic nowadays isn't it?) so have not tried it on that but I would be surprised if it would damage that material.

Actually I have found that WD40 is really not that good for anything! There are better products for everything that one uses WD40 for!

Kind of a jack of all trades, a master of none!

FYI, folks - the above idea is a great one, as far as getting sap off the surfaces. I left the rubber roof alone, however, and simply washed it with the sap on it, rather than chancing damaging the roof with rubbing alcohol. I figure a few spots here and there won't hurt anyone way up there.

GOO GONE..... I use it all the time to remove pine sap from painted surfaces with no damage. I believe Goo Gone is citrus based so it should not harm the rubber roof. I always use another spray cleaner to remove the Goo Gone after the sap is gone. You can get it at Wallyworld.
