In addition to all the above about wintering in NM, consider that it is not what is normally referred to as a snowbird state. Yes, it is bearable, actually nice some times, but , the attitude of the rvers is just not the same as the snowbird states. It seems to me, that people who stay in NM are there for the solitude and not the personal interaction. We did not find the comradare there that is prevelent in the snowbird areas. It is cheaper, no question, and sparsely populated, and that in itself is a determent to most snowbirds, who seek to mix in . But the people are nice and the area is great for sightseeing, when the weather allows trips north.

I stay in New Mexico by the Gila Forest for the winter. December and January are extremely cold by southwest standards.
I spend under $110 for electric heat for the whole winter, thats 3.6% of what I would have paid to heat my old house in Iowa. The people are nicer here in NM too.

We are considering spending a month or so at Blythe Island Campground, Brunswick GA. It has to be alot warmer than S/W Ohio.

Jon, I looked at Blythe Is. as a possibility for winter and plucked this paragraph from the ad:
Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is a fine local destination here at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground, and this is a popular location for people from Uxbridge. Summertime at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground comes with high temperatures in the 80's while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground temperatures fall to the 10's.

Those are Ohio temps.....Is that possible it's that cold in Ga.?
