Is anyone using man made decking boards to level their 5th wheel with? We have used 3/4 inch boards only to have them split on us. Sometimes we only need 1/2 to 1&1/2 inches to level our unit.

Can sure use that stuff, but it weighs so much more. I use pieces of plywood, either individually or layered together...no splits....Brian

I use 3/4 exterior plywood cut the following way.
8 pieces 8" wide by 24" long. These I use primarily under the wheels as needed by staggering them as a ramp.
8 pieces 8" wide by 12 " long. These are used under the front landing legs and the rear stabilizing jacks or any where else.
After leveling a few times you get to know how many pieces to put under the wheels. My wife usually does it for us so I can move forward or backward.
I've had these for over nine years and if necessary are easily replaced.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Iv2rom about the weight. That's why I use regular decking (5/4" x 6"). I carry 1 single 6' length & 1 double board (stepped) 7' length. I also carry about a dozen 7" lengths for under my landing gear.

I agree with Brian; good stuff but too heavy. I use treated lumber laminated between layers of outdoor plywood.

I am using Trex lumber that I had left over from building my slide-out patio deck on my TT. It is heavier but so much better than wood.

I opted for 2 x 8's, but they cracked after just a few uses. I like the idea Dave uses of 3/4" plywood at staggered lengths.

I used different types and sizes of wood several years ago, but then I tried the Lynx plastic blocks, and have never looked back!! I have 2 sets of 'em now, much easier to store, transport, and use.

A question for you;
Other than the cracking/breaking and rotting after many years of use of regular lumber, why do you say that the Trex is "so much better"?
