First, if I can do this, I need to be able to do it on the Macintosh...
I have a large number of LPs that I would like to convert to MP3s so I can listen to them on the road. I figured I would buy an Ion Turntable to do this. Turntable
My understanding is that the software with this is rather weak and that something like 'Toast' or CD Spin Doctor from Roxio might be a way to go.
Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks
Ron
You don't need an ION Turntable if you can get line-level audio out of an existing LP deck (think headphone jack if nothing else).
As for software, I recommend Toast Titanium from Roxio. It comes with everything you need and the new version 9 has a feature to automatically recognize converted tracks and fill in the Artist/Song Name info. Roxio has for a long time provided some really good audio clean-up features for converting audio from LP's and tapes. And the latest version can add it to your iTunes library in one click so you can transfer to iPod/iPhone.

Just a thought, before you jump and begin to buy Toast and a new turntable, take that cost and have a look on Amazon to see how much buying the MP3's would set you back. Unless the music isn't available, it may come close to being a wash.

I did all of mine a few years ago with Spin Doctor from Roxio.

There is a wonderful web site. On this web site are many songs that are in the "public domain", through about 1950. These are available for download, MP3, very high quality--Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Tommy Dorsey etc. I put these onto a MP3 CD, and my mp3 player will scan the name of the song as it plays. You pay $5 for 3 months use of this web site.
