it seems to me that an oil company would want to get in on something like that. its just a matter of time(maybe a long time) till we have gas less cars. or at least 100+mpg cars.

"Mercedes-Benz may be forced to cancel plans to produce its first hybrid sport utility vehicle for the U.S. market because oil giant Chevron and a partner have pulled funding from the automaker's sole supplier of electric batteries needed to power the vehicle, InformationWeek has learned."

Why does this NOT surprise me. GREED is the bottom line at Chevron as they rape every American, any way they can. Time to make sure I find any fuel except Chevron.

Wow, that is somewhat of a leap of logic is it not?

But, seeing that an oil company is involved, I guess we can assume that they are evil and what ever they do is greed based.

You have almost no information, and yet your have passed judgment. A shining testimonial to your pompous, self serving indignation.

Yeah, it may not have anything to do with money, it could be they are squashing this battery production to help the environment or something huh.

I agree with the giant leap in logic. From what I read in the linked article, Chevron is trying to sell off an investment but we don't know why. Most likely they feel it isn't profitable or their money could be put to better use elsewhere rather than making a move to squash hybrid vehicles.

I use Chevron products but don't see myself buying a Benz. Non issue here.

You might be happy driving your Excursion, but lot of folks wouldn't mind $12,000 cars making 70 mpg so widely available around the World.

Care to point me to one of these cars? I sure never found one other than go-cart size ones. Even they can't pass EPA emission rules.
Even my 1 liter bike only got 40 to 45 MPG.

Another oil company man heard from. I'll be glad when the windfall profit tax is passed and these insiders will stop defending the oil company greed.

And I'll be glad when those taxes are passed along to us at the pump.
That'll teach em'...
