Seams as though every one who has a high profile rig has a solution for removal of the bug build up on the front of there rig. So I decided to try something a little different from the norm. I tried the dryer sheet, the good ol elbow grease, and the bug sponge. I thought about useing softer water. The GEO METHOD, with car soap and the water softner. I found that this solution would soften the bug guts and they would come off pretty easy. Now these reminets had been on the trailer for three weeks, so they were baked and dried on. I feel they came off easier than before when the bugs had been there for two and a half weeks, on a earlier trip.
I haven't got around to putting a good coat of wax on yet. Thats next.

Why do you leave the bugs on for two weeks? When you pull in for the evening simply remove the bugs with a bucket of water and sponge or better yet do as advised on this forum and use a product such as bug shield to stop it in the 1st place.

Anything that dries and is caked on has to disolve. Try WD40 and let is sit a moment or before wiping. Use a dishpan pad (sponge on one side and scrubber on the other - non-abrasive) see if that works.

I've never heard of "bug shield". What is it and where do you get it?

Second best thing to make bugs easy to remove is to use RejeX on the fiver.
Best thing is a TV big enough to keep the bugs off in the first place!

I cleaned up the 5er this past Saturday after a week-long trip. The front, of course, was covered in bugs. I had read about the dryer sheet trick, but didn't really believe it would work. Well, let me tell you...that it does indeed work like magic!! I just wet the surface and wiped it with the DS and it got ALL the bug (guts and all) off with NO elbow grease!! I still can't believe how well it works!!

I was curious how this would work also, just got back from a 3000 mile trip and it took me an hour to clean the front cap, just amazing how well these simple little sheets work!!
