Hi all -- can anyone offer me any insight as to the best route to Herkimer, NY from Bordentown, NJ? I could go up through NJ to the NY thru-way (I87) and then 90W; or do you think going PA Turnpike to NE Extension to I81 through Binghamton & up is better? I am not familar at all with routes 81N, 88E, 205 or 28 which would be the routes after the PA Northeast extension.

Many thanks,
Marty

When I ran the trip on-line looking for the shortest route from SNJ to Herkimer it was up the PA Turnpike.

We live in Upstate NY and head to Herkimer a few times a year. A good, easy route (RV friendly) is the PA turnpike to 81N to 90E. The Herkimer exit is off of 90. One warning - there is road construction on 81 N in PA between Scranton and Binghamton, NY that could slow you up, and the road can be bumpy. Still, I think that is the best RV route for your trip. If you are going to the Herkimer Diamond Mines, by chance, the KOA is a very nice campground and our son found a couple of sizable "Herkimer Diamonds" last May. Have a great trip!
