I was in my RV for 10 days and needed a longer cord, I went to the local RV dealer and bought a one for $25. When I unplugged it after 7 days it had melted the dog bone connection on one end and the other cord it was plugged into. Now I am out 2 30 amp cords and 1 50/30 amp dog bone.
Where does one buy a good 30 amp extension cord?

If it was UL approved and was labeled for 30 A then I would tend to believe you were drawing more than 30 amps through it. If it wasn't UL approved, therein lies your problem.

Did you go back to your dealer with this complaint? I'm curious to hear what they had to say about it. It's not like you bought a discount store extension cord from some dodgy importer.

Probably drawing over 30 amps, I see you were plugged into a 50 amp receptacle. Probably don't have a 30 amp main breaker on your trailer.

I was plugged into a 30amp outlet and have 50amp in my MH. I also have an Electrical Management System and it would have shut down if it was over powered. I did not go back to the dealer as I left on Sunday AM.
I see a lot of these molded cords and think the connectors are poor.

My guess would be low voltage where you were plugged in. Dirty connections can do this also but if it was new it should have been clean, unless your dog bone was dirty. Have you ever cleaned the connections?

A bad connection anywhere along the route from you RV to including the shorepower could be your culprit. All plugin connections have to be tight.

If you have 50 AMP service in your RV maybe you should buy a 50 AMP extension cord. As previous posts said your probably drawing 30 Amps or a little more and that 30 Amp extension not made for it . JMO Good luck

The problem could have been the receptacles. A resistive connection will melt ANY size cord with as little as 10 amps going thru it. Many campgrounds have worn out 30 amp receps and many Chinese dog bones have really poor receps.

Yup, any poor connection can drop the voltage, which means the appliances try to draw more amps, which means more heat everywhere.
This is even worse if amp draw is high to start with.
