Never have we been on such a wreck of a road as I-90.
Constant road construction- miles and miles (16 to 20 mile stretches)of orange barriers with very narrow (no shoulders)lanes.
Plus 30 miles stretches where you're constantly bumping along. When we finally pulled over our clothes and things were all over the place.
My advise, take another route, period........

Never drive the interstate when I travel, that must be hard on folks who don't move to a two lane road in there life.
2005 Chev 5.3 Supercharged 395HP 425 T hp. Two wheels on front, 2 on back. one seat, tint windows. front and rear bumpers, headlights, windows. Door on each side. Heater, floor mats, junk behind seats, some dirt. Pulls so hard.
We are planning a trip from Upstate NY (We live a few miles from I90) out West, heading on I 90 all the way to S. Dakota and into Montana en route to Yellowstone. Thanks for the warning. It clearly sounds problematic, does anyone have a suggestion for a better route? Also, what resources (besides this forum, which is so helpful) can one use to find out whether the non-interstate roads (the 2 lane variety) are big rig friendly?
We just travelled I-90 from Bozeman, MT to I-35 in MN, then again from Fremont, IN to I-86 in NY. Compared to NY roads, we didn't think it was that bad. I guess we're used to pounding our way across I-86. There was some construction in SD, but the traffic never stopped moving, unlike the construction on I-90 near Erie, PA. That was backed up for 3-4 miles.
