Lacquer thinner is there preferred cleaner per EternaBond to prep a rubber roof to put down the tape and is the only thing we have used.
Duct tape would be a preferred temp fix but not sure how well it will stick in pouring down rain. Lacquer thinner will clean off the sticky stuff when you remove it.
thanks all, I dont currently have any leaks, but was imagining what it would be like to try and sleep under the Heki vent while camping if it did spring a leak. thought it would be a good idea to have something along that would be a temporary fix. i ALWAYS carry duct tape, but i dont think it sticks in rain either. may get a tube of silcone, just to have- in-case.
Anne just a small tube with a cap on it will go a long ways and store well. When we got to looking at our roof hard we found three tears (limb most likely) that had been repaired with silicone years ago. Two were still water tight and as mentioned was a breeze to peel off and dig out from under the rubber roof.
Silicone does work very well for temp work on a rubber roof I know first hand. We repaired these areas with EternaBond.
I have both eternabond & Rescue Tape on board.I use eternabond for the roof & Rescue everywear else. However I would not be afraid to use Eter.where you need it. It is great "stuff".

this is the first i've heard of "rescue tape". is it something that can be removed or is it more permanent? anne
"But I can tell you from 1st hand experience that if the area isn't throughly dry Eternabond will NOT stick. I had a little area along the edge that was wet & didn't stick."
Am I the only one who has used Eternabond with water and had it stick?
Patched a hole in vinyl liner pool, underwater, 3 years ago and its still there. No leak!! I think the key to a wet area is to start at the center and keep rubbing it outward.
