I use a Respironics M-Series Bipap Auto. I can run it off of my house battery's. before I added 4 more battery's I could run my Bipap machine for three days before I needed to turn the generator on to charge the battery's. It will run off of 12v.

the humidifier will be the killer. with my Respironics unit, I can run on 12 volts with a passover humidification. does not draw much but don't know the figure off hand.

I have my humidifier turned all the way up each night. It usually uses almost all of the water. (except 1/4 inch)
Last night, I forgot to turn on my humidifier and it still used about 2/3rds of the water so when dry camping, maybe people can get by without the humidifier.

Ed I found that to be true in my case as well. In fact because I was on the road (hotels) so much for a while I dropped the humidifer use OK.

are you saying in passover (not heated) mode you use most of the water?
mine does that in heated mode but of course depends on water volume in the reservoir. I sort of like to have it go dry so bugs don't grow as much.
yep, if I travel with it other than in the motorhome, I probably would leave the humidifier part at home. not that it is so large but then I would have to bring water for it along. I wasn't shown originally that the electrical block of my Respironics 'broke" in half and could remove the electric supply to the humidifier.
the techs at the hospital supply all act surprised when I say I run mine on "4" out of 5. ask if I get condensation in the hose.

It's very hard to see the water level accurately in mine. (I have a ResMed HumidAire ii) So, I decided to pour it into a measuring cup. Full, it holds 1 2/3rds cup. Without the heat turned on, I used 2/3rds cup.
I run my heater on the top setting, 6. I haven't gotten any condensation yet but I haven't had it very long and will probably get some when it gets cold.
(By the way, check out cpaptalk.com for an excellent forum.

Thanks all for the information. From what I am hearing, I should be able to run my machine at least nightly without any problem if I recharge with the generator often enough.
I have a 2000 watt inverter and 4 6volt deep cycle batteries, but nearly EVERYTHING runs on the inverter when I turn it on, so I was a bit concerned.

you got me curious so I also filled mine to the mark and poured it into a measuring cup. Got 1 1/3 cup. I only put about 1 1/4 cup in however so it "boils" dry.

I have the Resmed S8 cpap and I've used it 2 different ways camping. At first I used it plugged directly into the generator with the humidifier going. The generator we had would only run it for about 5 hours before I had to go fill it up with gas again.
We got a new TT with a dc plug, so I bought the dc cord for it and used that this time. I didn't turn the humidifier on, just had the tank filled with water and on there (as I tried it without it at all and it was way too loud for me), and it worked fine. I was there for 4 nights and it worked just fine. We have a solar panel, so that probably helped. We checked the battery with a meter before bed the first night and in the morning the next day and it had only went down about a tenth. I don't know a tenth what though, my husband is the electrical one. lol!
