Just wondering to get a few opinions. I just looked at a 2003 36 foot Tahoe with a living room slide, garage with a 2nd bed and overall in good shape. Here's the question: it has a salvage title due to when he pulled it out of his driveway it caught on his gate and damaged the left side of the trailer. Lower valance, fuel station box and the reason for the salvage is the rear frame that holds the tail lights is bent out approx. 2-1/2". The rear gate still opens fine and the rest is cosmetic and I can fix. I can pick the trailer up for around $7,000 and I am just wondering if it would be a stupid move to by a salvage title trailer. I was also wondering what the GVW of that trailer was since the sticker is faded and I cannot pick out the numbers. Thanks for any responses.

If you plan to keep the trailer (since it will not have very much resale value) it sounds like your getting a great buy. I would think for that price if you find any problems you can still get them repaired and not have spent nearly as much as most folks have on a hauler that size.

Moomba2002:

In case you haven't measured that unit yet, I believe it is actually around over 38ft long, the number 36WTB is a model number. The GVWR on that unit was listed as 14,100lbs. Hitch weight was listed as 2,240lbs also.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the information. I probably would keep it as I know the resale would be tough. I am also wondering if replacement parts are available easily for the unit.

Not sure about replacement parts for that unit, however, I do know that most items are easily located through an internet search. I presume you could find things for that hauler. Its not that old, and they are fairly commen.
