After reading this post I went out and did my mod (about 30-45 minutes to complete and less than $10.00). It has been a concern of mine for sometime but I didn't take action because I thought I was just worrying to much. After all, no one else had appeared to have had a problem. This post changed my mine.
I didn't worry about locating a stud. I used the bottom flat plate on the upper bunk frame, just above the corner of the window. I know it is securely attached to the trailer frame. I simply drilled a hole in the flat plate that gussets the two vertical rails. I countersank the head of a beveled screw to fit flush with the plate so there would be no stress placed on the nylon block of the bunk when in the down position. I then bolted a hook under this plate.
I then used 1/4" plastic covered cable to run down the front of the sofa to the second (lower) leg. There I crimped a wire terminal to the cable. The terminal was bolted to the center hole in the metal frame of the leg mounting plate. I had to counter sink the screw head where it was between the leg mounting plate and the wood seat.
The upper end of the cable was looped and crimped at the top.
This system stays attached at the lower leg and simply hangs under the sofa when the sofa is in the down and set up position. When you fold up the sofa for travel, you simply hook the looped end of the cable on to the hook. This cable will never support a lot of weight as it is there as a back-up, but it is tight enough to provide some support.

Where did you get the hardware? Is it stainless steel? I want to make this upgrade to my couch. I cannot find a stud on the other side of the couch that is close to it so I may add a second strap a foot or so below the WW installed one.
I got everything from Home Depot. The hardware is chrome plated not stainless. I located a stud in the wall, thats where the eye bolt is.
I'd love to attach photos, however, I've not had much luck doing so. Can you explain exactly how to do it?
