bought 07 fleetwood saratoga new last year and took it dry camping for a week. It's been garaged all winter and we're heading out tomorrow. We plugged in to our house to get the refrigerator running overnight. After about 20 minutes, I opened the refrigerator and the freezer is already cooling but there is a very faint smokey gas in the refrigerator. It has a sweet smell to it and I'm trying to remember if this is normal. I'm almost sure the salesman mentioned something about this at our walk-around last year.

If it is an ammonia type smell that would be failure of the fridge. If it smells like it just needs to be cleaned - coffee grounds left overnight on a paper plate will take care of it. It seems like an 07 should not be having a failure.

Hopefully, you left the doors open on the fridge and freezer while stored. If not, do it next time. Baking soda might help also.

As the Dick B said, always keep your doors opened when not in use. I find after it has dried out, a couple of days to a week, You can close them. The longer you wait the less chance of mold and spores forming that lead to the fridge having a case of bad breath. Bill

Another trick for fridge or freezer or cooler that is being stored. Once it is completely dry inside, put crumpled newspaper in it until time to use it again. Keeps the dragon breath from building up.
