Long-time Florida dealer closes its doors

(Aug. 4, 2008) -- Al's Motorhome and Trailer Sales in Fort Pierce, Fla., abruptly closed its Florida location today, consumers reported to RV Industry News. The company's Illinois office would confirm only that the location is "in transition."

A shame, we are down in the area about 3-4 times a year and we stay at Treasure Coast RV resort which is a nice place to put your mat out at.

Sorry to see Al's go.

I bought my Revcon at Al's here in IL. They were alright, hope the IL store survives. I'm surprised to the Florida store go before the IL store. The Midwest is not all that popular for RV like the south is.

That is a shame. They were close to home and we were getting ready to look for something a bit bigger.

I was talking to the parts manager just before they closed and he said that he would be glad when things there settled down and he could get more RV accessories in there. Maybe they plan to reopen as an accessories and repair place until the industry recovers. They did just build a 4 bay enclosed drive through service building and then could not get to it for all the MHs parked around it. They have plenty of room now. They did do a large repair business with all the winter visitors.

I drive by there twice a day and right now nothing is happening.

Wow, thats a surprise. I live about 8 miles from Al's and frequent them for parts etc. They were always able to get parts for me and were a help on technical questions. They just spent BIG BUCKS building new service bays and front office about a year ago. I guess like other RV dealers they never saw 'it' coming. Makes you wonder what's going to happen to the RV industry.

At one time, Al was a Rexhall dealer and I attended some shows with him in Elkhart. I really enjoyed working with him and his sales staff. Seems like a good company.

Has anyone noticed that there is not a single criticism about Al's in any of these comments. They are/were nice people to deal with. Hope they make it back.
