I bought a Reese 30023 16k hitch off of EBay. Got a steal on it ($200 delivered), it is like new, never used and garage stored.

But it doesnt tilt side to side. Opinions on the need or not for side to side tilt?

Second, where is the best place to get the bed rails and frame mount kit. Local dealer wants $159 for rails and $100 for frame L bracket kit.

TIA

I wouldn't tow with a fifth wheel hitch that didn't tilt in 4 directions. Will put too much stress on the pinbox. That's why it was priced so low - that's all it's worth. No one wants that type of hitch anymore. I did a search for 30023 on the Reese website and it isn't listed anymore.

I found a new Husky 16k double pivot hitch on E-bay for $300 (complete with bed rails and mounting hardware. Shipping from Wyoming to Michigan was $80. PM me and I'll get you the dealers info.

Folks have been towing with single pivot hithces for years. Long before the dual pivot designs. Semis still use this method.

FYI- I have a Reese 18K Sig. Series dual pivot and like it very well.

Even the Reese 16K signiture model does not tilt side to side just fore and aft, thats why I went with the 18K Reese. Just look online mounting kits are sold from many dealers they are not hard to find

unless you tow and hitch/unhitch on extremely un-even offroad areas the dual pivot hitch is just fine.

I bought essentially the same thing with a slider. I figured I could upgrade later and use the slider and rails if I had a problem. I've been on a few sloped sites and have not had any issues. Honestly, if it tilted that far I would want another site. Just for driving, if I tilted that far I would damage the bed.

I would just use it and see what you think, knowing that you can reuse the rails and upgrade the hitch later if you have issues.

I've been pulling for awhile. Never had the need for a side to side tilt hitch.
