I was noticing that Grand Junction is offering sleep number beds in their fifth wheels as an upgraded option. Does any one have a sleep number bed in their RV, and if so how do they like it?

DW's parents and SIL, both who are full timers, have Sleep Number beds in their RV's. They've had them for years. Would they be without them, no way. They love their Sleep Number beds. We too have one but it's at home. We've had ours for over 10 years. It's the best investment we've ever made in a bed.

We bought one and tried it out. Hated it. After 7 days, I couldn't walk. My sciatica was horrible. Returning it is difficult even though they say you have 30 days money back guarantee. We did finally return it although I think we had to pay postage. Then they harrassed me by phone. . . they just couldn't believe I didn't like their bed. They are very cheaply made for the price they charge.
Others like them though. It just wasn't right for us. We use a $19.88 air mattress from Target. It sleeps better than anything we have ever used. We full time and that is what we use.

We have a full queen and like it. Are you getting a gen-set with 5'ver. the reason I ask is that our bed only works on ac power.. genset or shore. If you don't get a gen-set, make sure it will operate off of batteries.
Another thing, be careful when going to high altitudes. Once inflated, the bed will expand as you climb higher. If you have it set at 50, then climb 4 or 5,000 feet, it will expand to say a setting of 100. There have been problems, rare, when people have left low country with mattress at high settings, say at 70, and then drive to higher elevation, the rockies, and the mattress actually pops. Warranty doesn't cover this. Just make sure its at a low setting, around 40, before you climb the mtns.

I like it, my wife doesn't. She wins. However, we only travel 3 to 6 weeks at a time, so we are not going to change it. Negative point...leaving Los Angeles we travel over the Grapevine, so we must drop the air pressure, also in Calif and the West, we often travel over mountain passes, so every time we travel we drop the air pressure, and reset it in the evening. You must have 110 power to operate the pump. This has not been a problem, it is just one more thing to add to the checklist. Had he MH not come with a SleepByNumbers, I would have been just as happy with a good classic mattress. Just my opinion.

I can't speak for the Sleep Number or Select Comfort in an RV though we like our overpriced bed in the home.
On top of the worthless standard RV mattress we placed a 4 inch thick memory foam mattress topper, and it is extremely comfortable! It's a much cheaper alternative to the Select Comfort for an RV.

We did the same thing, used the memory foam topper and it works very well.
I saw a poll on both memory foam and select comfort beds for home use and the memery foam won by a good margin. The results for select comfort was hit and miss.

I've an older Select Comfort matress that I bought second hand in the fifthwheel from the begining and wouldn't have anything else. I'm not a small guy either at 6'5" and over 300.

Spine fused at 11 levels...and I had a 'Tempurpedic Adjustable Queen' installed in my latest 5er. as it was being built. HEAVY bed!...close to 360# directly over the pin so I removed it and put in a 'Select Comfort/Sleep Number' Queen. I couldn't be happier folks...seriously! MUCH more comfortable than even the Tempurpedic adjustable unit and substantially lighter.
Enjoy the journey.....
